Chair, Membership

When you join the Owners’ and Residents’ Association of Lake Bernard you become a member of one of the strongest and most active lake associations in the region. Our membership in 2017 was 261 members.

The Association is made up of a team of volunteers who fight for the quality of the environment, safety and security around the lake to keep Lake Bernard in a state that can be enjoyed by us and future generations. The volunteers:

  • advocate on your behalf with the municipalities of La Pêche and Low and the provincial government on issues that are important to you and your property
  • operate – the bilingual Association website that provides an enormous amount of information including all of the meeting reports, water quality monitoring, news – and more
  • place navigation buoys around the lake where there are rocks
  • monitor water quality monthly and along one-quarter of the lake’s shoreline each year
  • operate a network of Bay Captains who keep tabs on the water in their bays
  • try to prevent invasive species like zebra mussels
  • work with residents on issues of unauthorized access through private land
  • work with the provincial government and the police on emergencies like retrieving the car from the lake in 2011
  • organize special events like shoreline workshops
  • organize an annual Association Day – a regatta with benefits!
  • create and distribute maps of the lake
  • sell great logo items – hats, mugs, shirts for babies, kids and grown-ups – and more
  • operate an email listserv for anyone at the lake to join to share information - see

We need you and your ideas. We always need new people to keep the Association and the Executive fresh and vital. Make a difference by joining a committee, getting involved in your lake community, and meeting your neighbours.

Join us! Simply mail a copy of the completed membership form and your cheque to the address indicated.  Or take advantage of our electronic payment by using PayPal or Interac. Email your membership fees through to ‘’ and indicate the civic address of your lake property and any changes to your contact details.

Our membership fees are now $50 to help raise monies to combat the milfoil issue. Regardless of the payment method, you can indicate if you would like to donate additional funds beyond your membership fee to address the environment, security and/or clubhouse operations. As an added incentive, take advantage of our early bird special. Pay your membership dues by the Annual Association Spring Meeting (May) and you could win a package of regatta raffle and 50/50 draw tickets (total value of $50).
