2026 ORALB membership
As per our recent winter newsletter we would ask that you hold off on renewing your 2026 membership at this time.
We are on schedule to have a new membership renewal system online by the end of March 2026.
We shall advise you as soon as that process is in place. You will then be able to go online and painlessly renew your membership and bring your contact information up to date . Please note that membership renewal fees remain at $75.00 for 2026.
At the fall meeting of the Association on December 9 2025, the membership approved a proposal to open up the ORALB to include Associate Memberships at a fee of $25 per person commencing in 2026.
Membership in our Association is critical to enhancing our voice with Municipal, Federal and Provincial governments.
The Association engages in many activities which are obvious to every resident on the lake: the annual Regatta on the August long weekend, installation and removal of seasonal navigation buoys marking shoals and maintenance of the ever more prevalent yellow buoys marking areas of milfoil infestation.
Though these are some of the obvious examples of the responsibilities assumed by the Association, it is the mere tip of the iceberg of the services and representation provided by the ORALB.
Increasingly the Association is the liaison between our lake community and various regulatory authorities as well as other lake associations in the Province of Quebec, addressing issues including the maintenance of roads, emergency services, security, waste management and collection, water testing, pollution control, septic issues, shoreline preservation, milfoil abatement, and navigation and water management.
It’s simple math: the more members we have, the greater and more powerful our voice when speaking on these issues.
Associate Memberships are the key to increasing our volume and providing more of our community with the opportunity to participate and support the work of the Association.
To that end, we encourage multiple members of the families who enjoy our beautiful lake to become Associate Members.
Associate Members share all the benefits of participation in the Association including service on any and all committees, including the Board of Directors.
The only difference between an Associate Membership and a General Membership is that the latter is tied to an individual property of Lac Bernard and is entitled to vote on issues raised at the Annual General Meeting. This does not preclude Associate Members from voicing their thoughts, opinions and concerns on any issue faced by our community and fully participating in all Association meetings.
Your participation and membership enhance and support the many facets of work engaged by the ORALB.
Our voice is an important component of our community and the louder it is, the more likely to be heard.
At $25 per membership, the cost is small, but the impact is huge.
ORALB Board of Directors
At the 2026 AGM, there will be two positions on the board of directors to be reviewed and elected by the membership.
Wendy Carr will be seeking re-election for a further two-year term.
Glynnis French has announced her resignation from the Board. Glynnis has acted as Secretary to the Association and has been instrumental in steering us through the daunting task of bringing Association records into the 21st century through digitization. Her contributions have been monumental and she will be sorely missed.
Any member of the Association, whether a full member or an associate member is eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. This is a dynamic opportunity to enhance our lake’s community.
Of specific interest would be persons whose talents are available to contribute towards more effective communication strategies and techniques through the use of newsletters, social media and imagination to promote the work of the Association and enhance communication with our Members.
Any of the current Board of directors would be happy to discuss this with anyone who may be interested:
